Hello, sunshine!

Are you eagerly counting down the days to your thrilling Barbados adventure? I know you're curious about the weather and hoping it'll be clear skies and pure sunshine. I built this section to answer some of your most frequently asked questions about weather in Barbados. If you're headed to this island, it's a good idea to keep an eye on local weather updates for flood watches and tropical waves, as these can indicate a significant rainfall. If you're really into weather watching, we recommend joining the Barbados Weather Watchers Facebook group, where you can get insights from locals about upcoming weather conditions.

Will it rain every day?

Seeing rain on the daily forecast isn't usually a great cause for concern. In my experience, this often translates to brief, sporadic showers, or even light sprinklings of rain, that clear up swiftly, making way for ample sunny intervals. As someone who lives here, I generally don't pay too much heed to the everyday weather predictions, unless word of an incoming storm arises. It's prudent to monitor the weather, especially during the storm season from June through November, as storms do tend to bring sustained rainfall. For instance, when Hurricane Beryl neared Barbados in 2024, we did encounter a few consecutive days of rain. Nevertheless, the splendid sunny conditions made a quick comeback, underscoring the adaptability and allure of our island retreat. Lengthy spells of grey, rainy weather, like those often seen in Canada and Britain, are quite uncommon in Barbados.

The Dry Season in Barbados

Welcome to the Barbados dry season, a sun-filled period from December to May that attracts visitors from around the world. This is the busiest time on the island, so guests should be prepared for some challenges. It may be difficult to secure restaurant reservations and car rentals, and there may be longer queues at local markets. Additionally, the streets of Holetown may experience increased congestion. However, don't let that discourage you! The dry season offers beautiful weather perfect for beach activities, water sports, and exploring the stunning landscapes. Just be sure to plan ahead and make necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth and enjoyable visit during this popular time in Barbados.

The Wet Season in Barbados

Welcome to the wet season in Barbados, a time of lush greenery and occasional rain showers. Running from June to November, the wet season is characterized by higher humidity, warmer temperatures and an increase in mosquitos. While guests should expect some rain, it's usually intermittent and showers are typically short-lived, often followed by blue skies. In fact, some visitors find that the wet season is the best time to explore the beauty of Barbados, with vibrant foliage and fewer crowds. Introverts rejoice in the wet season. As an insider tip, we usually advise our dearest friends to visit us in April or November so they can experience the best of Barbados at lower prices.

September in Barbados

During mid-August to mid-October in Barbados, many upscale establishments take advantage of the low visitor presence, high humidity, heat, and mosquito activity to temporarily close their doors. This allows them to enjoy well-deserved holidays and perform necessary repairs before the next winter season. Notably, the beloved Beach Club may close for a week or two, often with short notice, to maintain their pool and facilities. If you're planning a visit in September, be aware that various businesses may be closed for holidays, ranging from a week to a month or more. It's advisable to conduct research beforehand. In September, the island often welcomes former locals attending festivals and visiting loved ones. While there are some challenges during mid-August to mid-October, Barbados remains an inviting destination that I would never discourage anyone from exploring.
